Be on a (Nutrition) Mission

We love hearing from our Human Performance coaches about the programs that are most meaningful to them. In talking with Coach Danielle, we took a deep dive into “Mission Nutrition,” one of our Health and Fitness programs that explores how to nourish their bodies and minds in a healthful way. We learned a lot from chatting with Danielle and if you are working to build a healthy workplace, you may find this helpful as well. Take a look at the top three most common questions she gets regarding the program and her explanation of why this program is so impactful.

HOW DOES MISSION NUTRITION HELP COMPANIES AND THEIR EMPLOYEES?

Our goal with this program is to help participants create new, positive opportunities around their nutrition. Mission Nutrition helps each person truly think about what they value most in getting healthy meals, and the program is designed to explore both the mental and physical aspects of nutritional meals and healthy living.

Mission Nutrition helps participants gain clarity on what valuable to them when it comes to healthy eating by pairing tools, strategies and information with igniting questions in the webinars and coaching sessions. If you aren’t familiar with our approach, igniting questions refer to questions that lead participants to a moment of self-discovery. We call this the ignite moment. Creating a healthy lifestyle is a good way to improve productivity and happiness, and can act as a stepping stone towards your life goals.

HOW DOES A SIX-WEEK PROGRAM CREATE LASTING CHANGE TOWARDS HEALTHY LIVING?

By being active in programs like as Mission Nutrition, you will start to become aware of your habits and the small, simple ways you can make positive change in your life. Those who have completed the program have noticed changes in their energy, their mood and their motivation. Often, health and fitness programs are focused on the quick fix – the 20 minute abs or how to slim down in five easy steps. But we all know that quick fixes don’t always lead to lasting results. Rather than focusing on immediate results, those who have completed the program have made life long changes, moving them closer to their goals.

HOW CAN HR PROFESSIONALS BRING THE HEALTHY HABITS OF MISSION NUTRITION TO THE WORKPLACE?

One easy step to infuse healthy habits into your own office culture is to bring whole food options to the next office celebration. If you are unsure about what a whole food is, ask yourself the following questions when grocery shopping.

  • Was this food once living?
  • Does it have two or less ingredients?
  • Can you pronounce all the ingredients?
  • Would your great, great grandmother recognize this food?

Another suggestion is to encourage your colleagues to get moving during their day. Whether it’s grabbing a co-worker for a quick scroll during your break, scheduling a walking meeting or hitting the gym for some physical activity together, focus on ways you and your people can get moving.

Imagine you provide yourself with the nourishment you need to reach your maximum potential. What becomes possible for you?
